On May 19, 2012 Indianapolis will get a taste of African fashion when models take to the catwalk at the Indianapolis Museum of Art for the Taste of Africa Fashion Show, a fundraiser for the Georges Malaika Foundation’s School for Girls in the Congo.
THE FIRST ANNUAL Taste of Africa Fashion Show at the Indianapolis Museum of Art on May 19, 2012 will feature Spring collections from Congolese fashion designers, as well as African art and food. The annual event will empower African girls by sponsoring educational programs that teach sewing skills to girls in Africa. This year, the event will benefit The Georges Malaika Foundation’s School for Girls in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The Voss Foundation has sponsored a well, built by Solutions for Africa, which is a vital part of the GMF school. Thanks to Voss, there is no need for girls to walk for hours to get fresh water, allowing them more time for education and increasing their safety.
The Georges Malaika Foundation – The Georges Malaika Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping African girls in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to unlock their full potential.
